In the wave of digital transformation, China Construction Bank (CCB) has partnered with Information2 to build an offsite cloud file disaster recovery system based on Tencent Cloud COS Object Storage. This system effectively ensures CCB’s data security and business continuity, setting a new benchmark for digital transformation in the financial industry and pushing the data security protection system to a higher level.

Customer Challenges

As a leading financial institution in China, CCB has extremely high requirements for data security and business continuity. Currently, the bank uses Tencent Cloud’s COS Object Storage to store backup data generated daily by tenants using the TDSQL database. The production environment is located in Beijing, and data is synchronized to Tencent Cloud’s COS Object Storage in Shanghai through DTO replication.

However, with the development of business and the growth of data volume, CCB realized that the existing data synchronization method could no longer meet the high requirements for data disaster recovery. Therefore, the bank decided to build a comprehensive offsite disaster recovery system to enhance the data security level of COS Object Storage and ensure that data can be quickly recovered in the face of various disastrous events, thereby safeguarding business continuity.

I2 Solution

To build the offsite disaster recovery system, CCB chose Information2’s i2DTO tool as the primary tool for data offsite disaster recovery. This tool has the following characteristics:

  • Incremental/Differential File Transfer: By scanning and comparing, i2DTO can accurately obtain incremental or differential files and perform efficient data transfer, reducing data transmission redundancy.
  • Data Not Landing on Disk: During data transmission, data does not land on the host storage where i2DTO is installed, avoiding the risk of data leakage and loss.
  • Concurrent Synchronization: Supports the use of multiple synchronization hosts for concurrent synchronization, improving scanning and synchronization efficiency, and shortening synchronization time.
  • Graphical Configuration: Provides a fully graphical configuration page, making operations more intuitive and convenient, and reducing the difficulty of operation and maintenance.

During the construction process, CCB deployed synchronization nodes and management nodes of i2DTO in Tencent Cloud’s COS Object Storage in Beijing and Shanghai, respectively, and configured corresponding synchronization policies. Meanwhile, to ensure system stability and reliability, data synchronization nodes and management nodes adopt a cluster mode.

Solution Effects

Enhanced Data Security: Realized timed and automatic backup of data from Beijing’s COS Object Storage to Shanghai’s COS Object Storage, forming a geographical dual guarantee and improving data security and reliability.

Strengthened Business Continuity: In the event of a failure at a certain node, the synchronization link can quickly switch to other normally operating nodes, without affecting the normal operation of data synchronization, thereby ensuring business continuity.

Improved Management Efficiency: i2DTO provides an intuitive management interface, enabling CCB to easily monitor and manage the data synchronization process, reducing operation and maintenance costs and time costs.
